On a shield shaped gold metal and epoxied device 1 1/8 (2.86cm) in height blazoned as follows: Sanguine, a portcullis, the centre picket throughout and entwined by a serpent Or. Attached below the shield a white scroll inscribed with SERVICE READINESS HEALTH in gold.
The portcullis denotes security and fortitude. The use of gold metal and a portcullis refers to Ft. Knox being renowned for its security and the home of the United States Bullion Depository. The caduceus is emblematic of medical aid and its intertwining of the portcullis indicates the units support of Ft. Knox. The colors maroon and white are associated with the Army Medical Corps.
